It has been an amazing year here at Aubrey Greene Photography. So many changes, so much love and so much to look forward to. I want to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a fantasticallly happy New Year!
It isn't a secret...getting engaged is so exciting! You can't wait to tell your family, your co-workers, your best friend. If you are like me, the first week I couldn't stop glancing at my ring to watch it sparkle in the light. But now you have to start planning. While the thought may be exciting and even a little bit overwhelming, trust me, lists can help! So I've got a top 10 list of things to get you started. This month I will be sharing the first three!
1. Pretty up those nails!
This may sound incredibly superficial, but for the first couple weeks after you get engaged it may seem like the whole world is staring at your hands. The truth is...they are! Everyone wants to see how amazing your ring is and YOU want to show it off. So treat your self to mani (and pedi since you're already there!) as soon as possible.
2. Decide on the kind of wedding you want.
Will there be 300 guests or 60? Is it a lavish, formal affair or a simple, country-chic wedding? Do you want a mansion wedding or a barn wedding? Maybe a church ceremony with a seaside reception. The answers to these questions will help open up venue possibilities as well as narrow down your final list of potential locations and venues. Also, it is crucial to talk to everyone involved about what type of wedding you want. This definitely includes your fiance and may or may not include both sets of parents.
3. Gather a list of possible dates.
Pull out your calendar and use the answers from above to help you narrow down possible dates. If you want a beach ceremony, December is probably out...at least here in New England! Consider how many out of town guests you are inviting. Maybe you should pick a date over a long weekend. If budget is an issue, consider a day other than Saturday. Many venues will offer reduced rates for less popular dates.
Hopefully this list hasn't already overwhelmed you! But if so, take a night off from planning and go on a date with your fiance. It is important not to lose track of why you are getting married in the first place :)
I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving! We are battling the flu over here, but we are still grateful for our relatively good health, our family and friends.
While the weather is relatively mild today, when I met up with Stephanie and Mike at Greenvale Vineyards it was FREEZING! The cold and the wind made for an evil combination. But the two of them snuggled up and brought the love to one of my favorite engagement sessions ever.
